Small badges deserve readable colour
Dedicated on-tint text roles give status, severity, and sensitivity labels a clearer relationship with their backgrounds.

Separate the signal from the text
A colour can work as a fill and still be difficult to read when used as small text on a similar tint. Version 1.14.0 introduces 15 on-tint text tokens for status, severity, and sensitivity families. These are intended for labels and icons placed on the matching tinted surface.
More than a visual adjustment
The release also adds machine definitions for severity and sensitivity families that had previously been described only in documentation. Components can now consume shared background and text roles instead of calculating their own versions.
How to adopt the change
Use the family’s on-tint role for text and icons on its tint, and its background role for the surface. The patch does not deepen status backgrounds or require a theme-specific branch in every consumer. Later v1.17.0 extends the contrast work to text roles across declared theme surfaces.
