Choose type by script, not by locale
The RTL font-stack correction preserves Latin typography alongside Arabic, Hebrew, and Urdu.

Why stack order matters
The earlier Noto-first stack could also render Latin characters, preventing the intended Latin face from being used in an RTL page. Version 1.9.0 reverses the order: the foundations stack puts Lato first, followed by the appropriate script-specific Noto face.
What readers see
Latin runs move to Lato while Arabic, Hebrew, and Urdu glyphs continue to fall back to their supporting face. The release also documents per-script font loading and unicode ranges as an additional safeguard. The choice follows the characters being rendered, not just the page locale.
Foundation rule and portal typography
This article describes the product-foundations rule and ADR 023. The design portal retains its separately chosen Manrope typography. A multilingual product implementation should consult the foundations stack rather than infer its font rules from the portal’s editorial pages.
